i recently changed my Pc spec (actually only the cpu xD) btw, i wanted to ask what you think about it and about a problem i have, hoping you can help me
Pc Specs:
MoBO: Asus P5SD2-VM
Ram: 2Gb, 2x 1024 DDR2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2,80 Ghz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 512Mb
now... what is wrong with my system? if the problem is gpu, wich one is the best for pcsx2, considering the ones i can mount on my Mobo?
About the problem i have:
With the new processor and, pcsx2 r-1888 i could run perfectly accel 2 with sound too, even if with sound sucks a bit then i tryed shin megami tensei: lucifer's call, and it have a lot of graphic error but still good speed, then i tryed FFXII....
My pcsx2 config now:
Graphic: GSdx 1873 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.15:
Resolution: 1024x768 60hz
Renderer: Direct3D9 (hardware)
Interlacing: (none)
Aspect: 16:9
D3D internal res: native
Texture filtering, Logarithmic Z, 8-bit textures, Alpha correction (FBA) and windowed are checked the others aren't
Sound: SPU2-X 1.20
Everyhting on reccomended
Cpu settings: everything at left checked, at right i have: Frame Skip, and detailed settings on 0
Speed Hacks: 2x cycle, Esc Hack, Emotion Engine ( the 3 options are checked), Vector unit ( first option checked, min/max hack unchecked, and default on VU cycle stealing)
Advanced: round modes are both on Chop/zero, Clamp modes bothare on none, and then both denormals are zero and flush to zero are checked
now that you know my config, here's the problem:
in FFXII with this config i play at 48+ fps most the time at 50 fps, but there is a lot of error, starting from opening movie, when i open maps there is a bad slowdown, then when i close map, a huge error on screen with consecutive slowdown, before it resolve automatically, when i open menu huge slowdown again, when i try to go on equip worst slowdown, while killing monster at desert or other part it's all at 50 fps... and that is strange. anyway i checked pcsx2 site, and compatibility list, and i saw : PAL FFXII Playable pcsx2 0.9.4, i downloaded it ( the pcsx2 0.9.4) and game now have less errors, opening map doesn't give problem, niether equips, but now i run game at 30+ fps, and it's kinda slow, what can i do?
Sorry for long message, and mistakes on word sometimes, i'm not english so.. i do what i can P
Thx in advice, i really hope you can help me
i rewrited it hoping someone can help ^_^
That PC isn't bad. Try Direct3D10 and turn off 8-Bit Textures , see how it worked.
Offtopic: Demigod, great album of Behemoth
xDD
EDIT: Direct3D10 only works if you have Vista or 7 .
what if i don't have vista or 7? i have xp sp3, btw i'm trying to see now
Offtopic: behemot FTW xd
OMG i tryed without 8-buit and now it run smooth withut hang opening map and other things, AWEEEESOME thx xD
Well I decided to change my PC specs (only the CPU and mobo):
Updated Specs:
-Intel Core-i5-750 Lynnfield, 2.66GHz
-Vapor-x 5750 1GB GDDR5
-4GB g.skill DDR3 1600MHz
-Silent Pro 600W PSU
-BIOSTAR TP55 motherboard
How well would this rig hold up in PCSX2?
I have a laptop with the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4GHz
3GB DDR2-800 RAM
256MB ATi Radeon 4570
On this, I can run FFX just fine at 60fps, barring a few battle effects (Shiva, for example).
I also have a desktop:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 overclocked to 3.5GHz
4GB DDR2 RAM overclocked to 1GHz
512MB ATi Radeon 3870
On this, with the same pcsx2 version (r1888 beta), it barely runs above 40fps most of the time.
Both are running Windows 7 x64
The only difference in settings is that I'm using SSE4.1 gsdx on the laptop and SSE3 on the desktop (the E6550 doesn't support SSE4.1)
Graphics Plugin: GSdx 1873, SSE3 (desktop) SSE4.1 (laptop)
Resolution: 1280x720
Renderer: Direct3D10 (Hardware)
Interlacing: None
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
D3D internal res: 1024x576
Logarithmic Z: checked
Allow 8bit textures: checked
Alpha correction (FBA): checked
Wait VSync: unchecked
Enable output blur effect: checked
Sound Plugin: SPU2-X
all default settings
CPU: EERec, VUrec, microVU, MTGS
Speedhacks: EE1.5x, INTC Sync, IOP x2 Cycle Rate, Idle Loop Fast-Forward, Status Flag
These settings (apart from the different GSdx versions) are identical between laptop and desktop. Is there any way to get it run faster on the desktop? Am I doing something wrong or does SSE4.1 support really make that much of a difference?
I'd like to point out a bit of a comment for the main post, no one else seems to have noted.
The 45nm Core 2's seem to run beautifully, my E8400 w/ my 9800GTX+ especially seem to have no performance problems at all, though I imagine my 4GB of RAM helps also.
aaron552: I'm thinking the main advantage to the performance boost comes with the 45nm core and SSE4.1 support indeed, as the P8600 is a 45nm SSE4.1 chip as well, E6550 is the old 65nm Conroe core.
The Wolfdale core (The 45nm core in use by Core 2's now) gave rather noticeable performance increases over the old ones.
All in all, anyone with at least a higher end GPU and a 45nm Core 2 is likely going to get great performance out of PCSX2.
So i've gotten this new pc, and i honestly don't know how good or bad it is
as far as pcsx2 goes. I've been playing a bunch of 2d fighters just fine.
My specs are in my sig, I've never written down my specs before
so just tell me if you need more information.
Merged with the sticky thread. It's so-so depending on the game you'll get various results from playable to a bit slow, but should be enough for some games.
Hello, I have yesterday update my computer.
And now computer looks like that:
- Windows XP Pro
- Asus M4A77TD
- AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
- 4gb ddr3
- Radeon x1650 Pro
Will the emulator working good now or not? If not can you tell me why?
Thank you.
The graphics card is pretty weak. Processor should be fine for most games

Can you suggests to me something about the graphics card which to play emulator? Some good, but no so expensive, please. Its enough to me that can play ps2 games with normal graphics
