And if you lower the internal resolution at all,
how do those cutscenes run?
Better?
Cause that's when you're seeing your GPU's limits.

An AMD FX 8320 isn't the best choice for PCSX2,
but it's not too horrible.
It would do better at a 4.0Ghz+ overclock,
if it's ever a bottleneck for your games.
How do you know if it's a bottleneck for the case at hand?
Well, if you've ruled out your GPU by testing lower internal resolutions for a speed increase, then given Speedhacks a try with no success, your processor is most likely your bottleneck.
@ el77xamino:
Definitely should pull some reasonable speeds, at least.
Especially with the help of some Speedhacks.
I'm getting a new build soon, gonna go for the FX-6300 @3.5MHz with a 2GB 7850 @ 860MHz. Would this be enough to use 4x texture resolution? If not, would overclocking help? I'm probably gonna OC the CPU somewhere between 4.0 and 4.5, and the GPU to 1.0GHz.
I have a Pentium 4 and pcsx2 runs at a pretty decent speed with some games. Monsters, Inc plays at 35-45 fps, so that is almost full speed. It also helps if I turn the camera so less things show up. But yeah, it seems to run games quite well if there isn't much action going on.

Your system would be excellent. It's almost what I'm running. I have no trouble at all. I would stick to x3 if that's all your monitor can support. Native res is 512 x 448 (might be a little off
). So do the math with your resolution upscaling.

I have a near identical setup, GPU will be fine without overclock, a few games will however take advantage of the CPU overclock. See my tag for what I have mine at.

Brilliant! It'll be nice to emulate something without constant lag
Not sure if I'll be able to get Dolphin to perform as well though...
dolphine relies more on your GPU, so it'll be ok.

Really? I was told on the Dolphin forum that it wouldn't reach full speed on things like Mario Galaxy because of my build.
piledriver isn't the best CPU for gaming.
Never tried Mario Galaxy (I don't have this one), but I guess some of the demanding games I have (xenoblade, Last story, Pandora's Tower) should be playable near full speed on that rig. But that's another subject, and if professionnals (Dolphin Forums) told you it would slow down, I would believe them.

Alright, thanks for the tip.
Also, the IT Crowd is a fantastic show.
