With his CPU/GPU combination he should have extreme duel fans for both CPU and GPU. Also should be using a good thermal compound like IC Diamond as well as full copper heatsinks. The MSI Afterburner configuration I gave does not even go beyond GPU warranty restrictions...
I wouldn't suggest it for laptops 3+ years old or ones with poor ventilation and his build is new so would not have that problem anyways so would be fine. Also most companies have voltage changing disabled in the bios which prevents such problems. There are a few types of overclocking, this is the safe laptop way.

Fair play, what if I changed that to an 8800GT?
Might be a bit better, but I think you should be more towards the GTX series or 78xx/79xx from ATI if you really want to have a decent GFX for PCSX2.

8800gt is plenty for 2x native on a decent amount of games.
do change from 2gb to 4 gb on that ultimate 64bit os, that is the bare minimumj to run the os, so an extra 2gb is definatly worth it.
That laptop is refurbished and in stock.
hi I'm trying to speed up my game for my laptop, Black. It seems to work fine for ff games but for intense games like black the fps is around 30.
specifications:
Processor: intel core i5 2.5 ghz
64 bit windows 8
8 gig of ram
Intel ® HD graphics 4000
Ive already tried playing with the plugins and bios (for most part) to speed up and I already use speedhacks to max pretty much. any tips to speed it up or mabye its just my specs that are not doing the job? thanks in advance.
