My lil' bro just upgraded his rig, into like this.

Windows 7
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93Ghz
ATI Radeon 5750 1G
Corsair RAM 800Mhz 2G x2

The only letdown is the hard disk, still using PATA.Yet to get the money to buy Caviar Black.
So...I played FFX-2 and everything is fine,BUT at a certain point (like movies, cutscenes) the FPS goes down from 60 to 40.But MOSTLY during battle the fps stays at 60fps.
Is it that the spec isn't enough yet to get the game working with 60fps constantly? And oh,I use Gsdx 1873 (MSVC 15.00, SSE41) for graphic.I tried too with Native checked and not,the result is still the same.

Pretty sure this is supposed to be in its own thread, but quick fix, you might want to overclock your CPU a bit, if your motherboard allows. Most samples should be able to do 3.5GHz easy on stock volts and cooling.
Just wondering if this computer will be able to run FFX,FFX-2 or FXII at proper speed and not tutrle pace, It's quite an old computer so I'm not sure and don't want to Download all this for it to screw up or operate at a snail pace.

Okay, thanks for the info.Though I must say I don't know how to overclock the CPU speed.I tried looking at bios setup, well yeah there it is 266x11 clock speed. But heck,I don't have the guts to raise it.

Stock coolant?Are you sure?
Will I have any problems with any of the FF or MGS games with this setup:
CPU: Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz
RAM: 4GB @ 1068Mhz
GPU: 8800GT 512MB
HDD: 7200rpm WD Caviar Black 1TB
OS: Win 7 Pro 64-bit

FFX and XII will run fine, X-2 will have some slowdowns in cutscrens and videos
MGS series will have problems, especially MGS3 which needs about 4Ghz to run full speed without speed hacks.
Hello, all, new here.

I have a question, if anyone here wouldn't mind answering?

I just bought -

Visiontek ATI Radeon HD 4670 PCI-E with 1 GB DDR3

to go into my -

Gateway LX6810-01
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB L2 cache)
8192MB 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Memory (4 x 2048MB Modules)
640GB 7200RPM SATA II hard drive with 16MB Cache

and I thought my PC would be able to run PCSX2 fine, but it seems to be slow. Even on a game like Odin Sphere.

Thing is my PC is supposedly better than my friends, who can run that game fine, with no slowdown, and he says my card is better than his too.

However, I just can't get it to run at normal speed, like his.

Like I said above, I have the video card listed, plus a Core 2, with 8 gigs of ram.

Why isn't mine running well?

What can I do to get it running well? I bought that card just to get this running well, but if it doesn't, I am going to put my factory GT 120 back into the system, and get my money back. Sad

Please help. Thanks.

EDIT: By the way, I forgot to mention that I am actually putting the PS2 disc into the DVD drive, whereas my friend is using an ISO of the same game. Would it help if I used the ISO, instead of the actual disc of Odin Sphere?

Thanks again.

I think people suggested using software rendering for the cutscenes in X-2 IIRC. My friend had issues with it running a little slow/out of sync using hardware rendering, with a lower cpu

I've always made ISO images of my disks simply because I am too lazy to put a dvd drive into my desktop, but I was under the impression that games play faster from the ISO than from the disc. And AFAIK, pcsx2 only takes advantage of 2 cores...

And regardless, 8gbs ram isn't affecting anything, and SATA II is just marketing. those are my thoughts
hey there guys, i have somthing to ask...i just read in another forum that a guy had these specs
his words:
Quote:I am a under-average american in terms of income, so I cannot afford much. I have a custom computer, built my self. Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.6 ghz, 768 MB of SDRAM, 256MB nVidia GeForce 6200 350/450, 120GB HD.
I have an emulator called pcsx2 and it runs ps2 games fine, no lag. it has a DirectX plugin that works great. i can play ps2 games on my computer at ~75 fps
i can't believe he can do that since i can barely get 25-35 fps with my amd athlon 64x2 dual core 4600+ 2.4ghz which is in a higher rank than a celeron :/ and i have 3 gb of ram so...i don't think it's true, but even if it is what config do you think he used????
