Hi there. I am running PCSX on my computer - it runs perfect except for one thing. The program I'm emulating (Fire Pro Wrestling Returns) slows down a lot in menus and especially in the wrestlers intros when they're coming to the ring. Everything else works great (seriously like 98% of everything else is fine) but I'm wondering - if I buy more RAM for my computer, will that help with this small yet asthetically annoying problem?
Possibly nothing, aside from more accurate emulation.

Your system RAM is trhe last thing I'd suspect, but knowing your specs (**hint**) would make things clearer.

Thank you for the quick reply and I apologize about not following ettiquite:

Here are my system stats. Keep in mind that, for Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, I have 59-60 fps on the match play itself (the most important part of the game), on the main menus and such. I don't want to seem like I'm complaining too badly considering I'm getting to play an awesome PS2 game on my computer but it would be at least awesome if it ran at 59-60 fps on the game's opening animation, in the wrestler's intros to the ring and in the pre-match setting menus.

Processor:

Intel Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86 GHz, 1867 MHz, 2 Core(s)
Installed RAM: 2.00 GB
Total Physical Memory: 1.99 GB
Available Phys Memory: 1.08 GB
Total Virtual Memory: 3.98 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 2.98 GB

Not sure what PCSX settings you want me to list. Like I said, the game runs smoothly for the important parts but I'm a stickler for perfection at times :-P
Subaru: im afraid your specs are quite close to mine, if you want to run shadow of the colossus better than minimal graphics and 40fps you may have to get something better anything less wont cut it. the dell has less graphic ability than mine which is radeon 6490m, youll need better than radeon 6490m, the nvidia 540m would be the best way to go, while it possesses less pipelines and a slower core speed then my radeon 6490m it has far superior shader speed, Memory Bus Width and Max. Amount of Memory, so in other forums people agree that the nvidia 540m would destroy the radeon 6490m, the Dell has a slower processor but better grapics, id say the dell might run it better, but im not sure by how much, if the dell is less than $1000 it may not be enough, thats my best guess.

---This one looks more powerful but i wonder if its better to have a dual core because some games may crash utilizing more than one core(example: F-zero for game cube) and in that case you may need a processor thats at least 2.6ghz (+ power boost to 2.9 would be nice) notice the price---

Gyannon: fist off, how to identify a good cpu from a crappy one? read read read, this web site will help you, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Notebook-La....48.0.html (only for laptops)
my laptop has a windows experience of 5.5 (desktop)and shadow of the colossus runs at 35fps, so that should give you some idea as to what you computer can do, but thats just the base score or lowest score what was your gaming graphics score mines 6.3.
And this person can tell you how to set up pcsx2 perfectly, right here http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Official-...ide-v0-9-7

misawa91: wow 1.8ghz CPU and your getting 59-60fps on a ps2 game? consider your self lucky, what kind of GPU are you running buddy? thats the IMPORTANT question Wink

dammit i did it again, hit the update attachment instead of the save changes button, look, im new here still getting use to the button configuration, plus im in a hurry today sooooorry Tongue

Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family

I have PCSX2 0.9.8. Like I said, 59-60 fps when I actually play a match on this game (Fire Pro Wrestling Returns), about 52-55 on the main menu and then it slows wayyy down during the wrestler intros and on the create a wrestler menus and such.
Thanks for your explanation bigemugamer

After some other search, i've found a better configuration

It's a Dell 3550 Vostro with (core i5 2520m @ 2,5-3,2 Ghz and AMD Radeon HD 6630M 1GO)

The core i5 2520m is better than the 2410m (0,3 Ghz). Will there be a big difference in the performance of PCSX2 between these Two processors.

For the graphic card, the HD 6630 is a little less performant than the GT 540m but i think that the most important to look for PCSX2 is the processor. Am i right?

So between these 3 laptops

Asus x53sv-sx111v (core i5 2410m @ 2,3-2,9Ghz and Nvidia GT 540m)

Dell inspiron 15R (core i5 480m @ 2,66-2,93 Ghz and ATI mobility radeon HD 5650)

Dell 3550 Vostro with (core i5 2520m @ 2,5-3,2 Ghz and AMD Radeon HD 6630M)

What is the best choice for ruinning game like FF12, Valkyrie profile 2, dragon Quest 8 or star ocean 3 ?

Yes, you got it. So long as the GPU is something decent enough, and all three of those are.

The Dell 3550 Vostro would be my pick. Although the extra 300Mhz isn't necessarily anything BIG, it still represents a higher possible FPS where it counts more. The little bit better GPU would mostly just allow a little bit higher resolution at that point (while maintaining full speed).
I hate to bother y'all again with this nagging question,
but from what I've read in the first post,
I am quite confused as to whether my laptop will run PCSX2.
I know, I know - it's the specs are stated clearly there,
but I'm a first-timer, so a little help would go a long way.
Here are my specs:

Laptop Processor: Intel Core i3-350M @ 2.27 GHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M, 1 GB VRAM
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 Memory (3.68GB usable)

Also: I can run PCSX2, but whenever I get to loading an ISO,
it will load the PS2 configure screen, freeze,
and then shuts down on itself. I've run another emulator,
but it asks for me to load the PS2 CD,
where my laziness in burning the ISO image on
a CD somehow seems to kick in Smile.
Anyways, I think the ISO does not run on PCSX2
because of slow/unavailable memory,
but it would be nice to know what might be stopping it.

It's capable of emulating, and some games could actually run at full speed (or close to it). You will need to use Speedhacks with most games, and many will still fall short of favorable speeds.

Your GPU is OK. Don't be surprised if you need to use a lower resolution with some games (i.e. native). You will still be able to run a fair share at higher res, but some will see limitations at time (that being the one's heavier on the GPU).

Problem loading an ISO? Maybe it's a bad rip.
Use Imgburn to make a reliable rip from your PS2 discs.

(There is no point in burning a ripped image back to a disc...)
