The only thing necessary is the video card, and they mostly already do have DVI connectors by default right now; the old d-sub pins (vga out) is already almost obsolete except in some budget laptops.
Just wondering how it will run on my new pc
I am at my parents house for weekend so I can't try on my own.
CPU: AMD 965 BE stock speeds
Video: Ati 5770
Memory: 4Gb
OS: Win 7 x64

Cool I was worried about the 5770 being a problem.
I wonder if I can get a faster emulation when upgrading my AMD64 X2 4200+ with 2 GB RAM system from an ArcadeVGA (Radeon HD 2400) to an ArcadeVGA 3000 (Radeon HD 2600)? I know that the Radeon HD 2600 is almost twice as fast as an Radeon HD 2400 (moreover the Radeon HD 2400 is not really fast - with the Radeon HD 2600 e.g. PC Street Fighter 4 is running fine, not with the 2400). And I do not want to upgrade my main processor at the moment. Is the emulation respectively the frame rate noticeable faster/higher with a better graphics card?
I'm only playing "Gradius IV", "Thunderforce VI", "Metal Slug 6" (and maybe some other shooters in future) on my machine as it's built into a real arcade cab with digital controls only. I have to note that these games are all running fine with about 45 to 50 frames per second (there are some slowdowns at "Gradius IV", mainly at the boss fights) - I would like to see 60 fps...
Your bottleneck is the CPU. Upgrading your GPU won't help at all (not from what you have already at least) -unless you absolutely need to play at over the top high-resolutions.
I'm building a new gaming computer and been able to play this emĂș
would be a great bonus, Now I have everything covered except the cpu
, at stock clock wich one performs better on this emu, the i5-750 or phenom 965
That's interesting. I thought that it should be faster then. Andy from Ultimarc (the company selling the ArcadeVGA graphics card for real arcade machine owners) told me that the new graphics card should also speed up the PS2 emulation. I'm only using the screen resolution of 640 x 480 - not higher! I thought that at least when there are many special effects on the screen that a faster graphics card should be able to render that much faster ("Gradius V" is slowing down massively when there are many special effects)!?
Do you have any idea how much influence a faster graphics card has on the overall performance? 10, 20 or more percent? But if the CPU mainly is the bottleneck - why did I read here that a fast graphics card is necessary for the PS2 emulation?? Do you think a AMD64 X2 5000+ or 6000+ should do the thing? Or do you think I should upgrade both the CPU and the GPU?

Problem isn't your 5770. Even at 1080P resolution my 5750 isn't a bottleneck. However, your processor is; if you can, try to reach 3.8GHz, that seems to be a sweet spot for Phenom II processors.

At stock, definately the i5-750. With 2 cores active, i5-750 runs at 3.2GHz.

At stock, definately the i5-750. Overclocked, still i5-750, gap widening in favor of i5-750. In fact, I've heard that the Phenom ii will have to be overclocked to 3.8GHz to match i5-750 stock speed (which is 3.0GHz for applications using 2 cores). If you overclock an i5-750, it will be beast.
Many thanks, I will go with the i5 then.
