Well Insom, in the 512Mb range Between the 8400GS and the GT210, well yes, I would pick the latter.
I still strongly suggest a complete mobo overhaul, a top notch modern 775 or medium 1156, and if possible, a better card that the one I'm planning to get (gt240?430?5570?), since with a GT210, the resolutions and quality you'll be able to get aren't that far from an original PS2, although with that processor you can theoretically get some beast performance, it just doesn't seem too appropriate of a system as a whole.I invoke the elders to correct me If I'm mistaken.
May I suggest a PS2+ Component cables?
Just Kidding
edit:dude...your specs are changing by the minute, you made me look for 512Mb cards benchmarks lol, sorry if the conclusion was not valid.
lol i know, sorry about that, its just every time i thought I had it right, i discovered something that disproved the old theory lol. now i know I am 100% set on these specs. i cant change out the mobo, already too deep into this project, and I don't want to spend any more money. So what u were saying, on my current mobo, I should go with the GT210? or was that just when we were looking in the 512 range? lol How about for a 1gb card? VGA plz, and PCIe x16
I'm searching too, but I am not as good at turning things up as u guys lol
I am looking at this geforce 9600 gt 512 right now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GeForce-9600-GT-512M...56423923e7
How well will that do? I'll keep looking.
Well sorry about elongating this, elders
[Insom] I think that card is great, or at least quite better than a 210.
If you stick to that mobo and CPU though, think through that being old HW, all problems derived of using it will have tending to none repair options, being a server setup it could last longer, but if it's all a second hand investment (i.e. a server that's been up for 3 years), please check physical condition thoroughly before buying.
I would say you can get HD resolutions with stable framerates, if that's your aim.Try Dolphin too.
I still stick to my plan of getting a core i3+ 50-70~$GPU, it's a shame this is going to be closed now!, I'll never get my answer/jk
Thank you all for your patience.
All I'm aiming for is to get PCSX2 running at a steady 60 fps. I don't mind HD too much, but it would be a great bonus!
I think I am gonna go with this card. I will return the 210. Conveniently, they are both $50 lol so a free swap hehe
So are you guys gonna take it on another thread or should I start handing out warnings? ....
Well the topic of the thread is "Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?" and we have been talking about nothing but getting PCSX2 running fast on my computer, so I don't really see the point in moving it anywhere ....
Anyways, I just ordered that GeForce 9600gt 512mb. I hope that does the trick
Yes but it has switched to hardware selection and what to buy and you also agreed it should be in a separate thread. So yeah do me the favor.
We agreed that my selections would run PCSX2 fast, which is what this thread is about right????? Forgive me, but I still don't find the hardware selection inappropriate if it directly pertains to the topic of discussion which is whether or not PCSX2 will or will not run fast on it. I mean, it's not like I'm asking "oh what kind of network adapter do I need to download movies?!" In reading past users talk about graphics card selection, processor configuration and speed, etc on THIS THREAD, I thought that THIS was the only appropriate place to ask about the hardware as it pertains to how well PCSX2 will run on it. Am I wrong?
Yes but it wasn't 2 to almost 3 pages long. Since you keep insisting you can enjoy your warning though...a new thread would be better both for you getting more direct answers and more people checking it out and for this thread as well.
So I just got a warning for being on topic for too long? Yea that makes sense. Your only objection now is that it lasted too long? Funny, I don't remember reading anywhere in the terms of service that I can't participate in a thread for a few pages on topic.
I appreciate everybody's help in finding what I needed, but I can't help but feel like I've been treated kinda poorly. I just want to make sure PCSX2 will run fast on it. And I have accomplished that goal, thanks to this forum and its participants. I'm just sorry I missed the part about not being allowed to participate for a couple pages.
Oops I made it to 3!
