Just when I start to think I'm getting my head around things....
So, I should forget the i5 8300H
The other laptop I linked up, the ASUS FX503 has a i7 7700HQ processor, so that sounds better suited even though it has the lower STR of the two
I do appreciate all of this guys, many thanks for your help
Hey guys, I am surfing the web to get a new laptop, and I was wondering if the Asus F510UA-AH51 Vivobook FHD Laptop would run the PCSX2?
CPU: Intel Core i5-8250U 1.6 GHz with a turbo of 3.4 GHz (Quad Core)
GPU: Intel UHD 620 Integrated Graphics
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 1 TB HDD
Thanks for the help, peeps
FlamingDead - it will struggle. It claims to have a stp of 1936ish which is a good number. My 7200u is listed as 1730.. except when trying to play it throttles, and I see closer to 1450 when she's warmed up.
The UHD620u is the same video I have.. and its going to struggle with any sort of scaling, though for 1x it should be ok. If the 8250u doesnt throttle too bad due to poor cooling conditions on laptops, it MIGHT be suitable to play some games at a constant 60 fps ... But I can flat say my 7200u struggles playing even lighter weight games like ffx.

Hopefully, I can run a game or so if I happen to get this laptop. I’m not so sure on what I am getting yet, but even though I know no laptop can perform any PS2 game perfectly, I want to at least try with a budget laptop
Still, thanks a lot for the reply, dude. I’ll update if i can even run a game with that laptop 0_0
I think it stands a better chance at it than my laptop does with the 7200u.
I was having to manually switch between software ogl and hardware ogl to keep it in the rough range of 50-60fps on ffx. It was playable though, just not smooth during battles that had a lot of flame or particle effects. I dont think it was the gpu that was sandbagging it .. I think it was the proc. If you do get it, remember to adjust your power profiles or only play plugged in.. it will matter.
Experience with 2700K at new 24/7 OC settings.
4.7ghz CPU, Ram OC'd from 1600 to 2133mhz.
Nothing runs below full speed on this setup.
(WARNING i only play in Software mode)
MGS 2
MGS 3
GT3
GT4
God of War 1 & 2
Tekken 5
Soul Calibur 3
The Sims 2
GTA SA
ICO
Shadow of The Colossus.
GSDX SSE4.1/AVX
PCSX2 settings.
Clamp mode.
EE/FPU Extra + Preserve sign.
VU0/VU1 Extra.
GS settings. Default.
EE cycle rate. Default.
VU cycle stealing. Default.
MTVU (3 cores) enabled.
Default speed hacks enabled.
GSDX11 (software)
Edge AA enabled.
Rendering Threads. 7.
Mipmapping enabled.
Shader boost. Texture filtering of the display (PS2 accurate visuals)
Demo: GT3 .. (this was using Open GL SW mode which is more intensive for no visual difference vs DX11 SW mode)

I remember when I had my old laptop, I had to continuously switch around some of the settings as well as attempt to use Speedhacks which sort of helped with lower-end games. But I’ll be sure to keep your advice in mind
Although, i just happened to find a massive sale on another Asus Vivobook (model Vivobook 15 X542UN-SH71-CB) that is around the same price range as the other model except with more powerful specs such as:
CPU: Intel i7-8550U Quad-Core 1.8 GHz with a turbo of 4.0 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Storage: 1 TB HDD (I believe it has 128GB in SSD as well)
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620 (Integrated) and GeForce MX150 4GB (Dedicated)
As fas as I know, the CPU and RAM should be decent enough for the emulator but I’m unsure about the MX150, which the GeekBench Benchmark Score is 45638 according to that laptop
The MX150 is a mobile variant of the GT 1030 which is fine in most cases unless you really want to enhance games to high internal resolutions. I would be more worried about the CPU and thermals since the 8th gen laptops seem to generally be throttling under high CPU usage (like emulation) and especially if paired with a discrete graphics card. So temps might cause issues
But basically the MX150 is stronger then the MX130 (basically a renamed GT 940MX) and that card is generally fine in PCSX2 so the GPU should be ok.

Thanks a lot, TkSilver!
I’ll give out an update to see how this laptop works out with the emulator (I just got it today)
