GeForce GTX 295
GeForce GTX 285
GeForce GTX 280
GeForce GTX 275
GeForce GTX 260
GeForce GTS 250
GeForce GT 240
GeForce GT 220
GeForce 210
tests on a 3.2 quad/ 250 GTX were great, had none of the usual issues with my 8600, even the intense games ran at a solid 90ish+ fps

DDR2 ram runs at 800mhz, that's EACH one. you don't add them together. so 2 sticks of DDR2 ram run at 800mhz total
@ibm
The only member of the GeForce 200 series you should avoid is the 210. The GT 220 should do alright, with native resolution most often. With a GT 240 being like $50, you might as well get get one of those at the very least. Anything higher would do great, but you're most likely only going to gain high(er) resolution at that point.
How's this laptop look for running games at playable speeds?:
HP Envy 14
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core i5-450M Dual Core processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)with Turbo Boost up to 2.66 GHz
Vcard: 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
RAM: 4GB DDR3 System Memory
HDD: 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Thanks!
Both should be adequate, with the Core i7 build being faster. Not any game though, some will need some major overclocking to ~ 4 Ghz to work full speed (usually due to emulation bugs or limitations) but those should be a handful.
what is dolphin? is it a software?
Dolphin is the only decent GCN/Wii emulator. Plays many Wii games full speed on a similar system to PCSX2.
Serzggh: The raw CPU speed will be a little low and many games won't run full speed... not much you can do about that as overclocking a laptop is definitely not recommended due to heat concerns. That said, most laptops will have this issue unless it runs above the 3ghz mark which very few do.
so to sum it all.. dolphin is an WII emulator?... wew..
Another question, would the Phenom x2 1090T (3.2 Ghz) run PCSX2 comparably fast to an i7 930 (2.8Ghz)?
I understand that the architecture of PCSX2 facilitates Intel much better than AMD, but the clock speed is 400 mhz faster.
EDIT: Also, considering I was planning on OCing the i7 to around 3.2 anyway, would it give me more bang for my buck?

Intel Core i7 will still be faster or about the same, and most game would have hit fullspeed at that clock you don't have to care so much about which one is faster.
