Read a good 40 pages of this thread before I decided to post here--
I'm trying to play Shadow of Colossus on the newest SVN of PCSX2, and can't seem to get above 20fps.
here are my system specs for ref--
AMD Phenom II X4 clocked at 3.25 GHZ (was a Phenom II X2 BE)
16 GB of Corsair DDR3 - 1333 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6850, stock settings.
Thought I'd be able to push the boundaries of most games using the '4' preset. Tried that, and tried using custom settings from the guide featured on the help page. Wat do?
EDIT-- I was able to achieve much better speeds through using the "Hardware" version of the graphic plugin. Not sure why I was using software!
My first time post...
My laptop is i5-2410M @2.3 2.3 | 8gb RAM | win7 x64 | nvidia GT520M
I just started on the pcsx2 (latest svn version). I been checking and trying all type of configuration but I always get a drop in fps (below 20 and persist for quite sometime) when loading of new screen etc.. I switched on the speedhacks with MTVU and the others is at default. Is my laptop not powerful enough? If yes, how do I tweak it to maintain the 60fps? The game I'm trying to play is SMT Nocturne.
Thank you in advance for any reply...
PS, I always have a drop in fps when using HD version of GS

Thank you very much for the reply. I'll try with smaller resolution. Thanks again.
Your GPU is on the weak side.
This means that high resolution, and "HD" up-scaling will most often have slow downs.
Your processor isn't bad, but may not handle some of the heaviest emulation well.
It's probably not your big bottleneck here, so Speedhacks usually won't help much.
You GPU will probably be your bottleneck at times with most games,
even at native internal resolution.
I'd figure it to be your problem here.
Games are running reasonably well but I'm kind of worried about components overheating. Might be a stupid question, but does the high system requirements of the emulator equate to strain put on the components? My CPU cooling is pretty crap atm.
If your cpu cooling is very bad, then don't even bother to run anything then perhaps wordpad or notepad hehe. Get a new CPU Cooler or clean it (AND don't forget the coolingspaste) before you even try PCSX2. For laptops it's also quite heavy, not necessary cause of the hardware, but laptops are well known for getting quite warm for intensive stuff.
Hey, I have a few games I'm wanting to play on PCSX2, but I'm not sure if I can run them at a decent speed using my laptop.
The games I want to play are:
Crash Twinsanity
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts 2
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (Platinum)
Crash Nitro Kart
Crash Tag Team Racing
My specs are roughly as follows:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7 @ 2 GHz (I know, not a good processor)
Graphics: nVidia GeForce GT 525M
RAM: 6 GB DDR3
Hello people.
Recently i have been playing games like :
God of War
God of War II
Resident Evil 4
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry 2
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition

Kingdom Hearts 2
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
etc..
I have being playing all these with 6x Native Resolution. I admit that is a great quality LOL!!!
Anyway recommended Speed Hacks On. So how are my system specs for PCSX2 games?
I also know that SLI is not supported by PCSX2 but who cares, i got a beast one
My system specs :

GPU : Asus 680 GTX 2xSLI 2Gb
RAM : OCZ REAPER DDR3 PC3-17000 12GB
PSU : Silverstone Strider 1500W
MOBO : Maximus IV GENE
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 Bit
PCSX2 SVN r5144
(Everything on stock, no OC)
Are you just showing off or are you actually asking something? Because it seems to me it's just the first.
A new version will be released when it's ready.
I'm glad it works for you, but since this is a help forum and not a show off forum, next time either post in the off-topic section or just save us the time from reading the bragging, thanks
