Phased out due to the computer illiterate people of the world and the mass market shift of desktop monitors to the awful 16:9 aspect ratio found on TVs.

16:10 supports 4:3 properly. 16:9 doesn't. No real computer user should be preaching 16:9 over 16:10, it's worse in every possible way on PCs.

The only, ONLY, benefit to 16:9 is increased FoV natively. This ceases to become an issue in games where developers include FoV control.

I'm personally still waiting for a 120Hz+ 16:10 monitor at 1920x1200 or greater. I am not downgrading to 1080p just to get CRT quality; rather get a damn FW900, though I can't look at CRT screens anymore. And no, 1440p isn't an option; it's still 16:9, which again, doesn't properly support 4:3 games.

Back on topic: Where'd the version history go? I can't compare updates anymore, so I don't know when the file is newer.

A 16:9 aspect ratio means you're getting "CRT quality" and 16:9 doesn't "properly" support 4:3... uhh, sorry, what? I can play 4:3 media and games just fine on my 16:9 40" 1080p LED.

I got rid of the changelog because it was troublesome to monitor, and getting rid of it helps make the process updating much easier. If you want to know what's new, check the latest posts here

Looks like you don't understand the benefit of 120Hz+ monitors, so you didn't understand that comment, shame.

120Hz+ monitors with Lightboost support can create a strobing effect to mimic the motion clarity of a CRT. Google this if you want to learn more.

Nor that either.

4:3 = 1600x1200
16:10 = 1920x1200
16:9 = 1920x1080

4:3 scales to 16:10 without issue.

16:9 is forced to drop resolution down to the next lowest 4:3 resolution, which in this case is 1280x960 (unless using a custom resolution, which isn't common). That is much much smaller than 1600x1200. Not only that, but you have to deal with either terrible upscaling which ruins quality even further or have it sit in a small box if set to 1:1 scaling (ie; none at all). This, again, isn't pleasant to look at.

Understand yet?

PS: An LED is a light emitting diode, so I'm going to assume you meant LCD. 40" is also way too big for a 1080p display, so I assume you're using a TV. Must have some bad motion blur and input lag if so, not to mention very low pixel density, so I hope you sit far away from it else it won't look that good. (If you have bad eyesight, that's a different story..)

This thread has 84 pages of posts. When I have hundreds of other things to do in a day, I don't have the time to read through posts when I want to simply check for an update to something. If I don't see a changelog, I either assume nothing has changed or don't bother updating unless it's mission critical.

A changelog surely can't add that much to updating the file. Why not add it within the archive as a simple text file?

The last version I downloaded was '84'. Any estimation on what it is now?
Refresh rate is independent of aspect ratio. You can get 1080p 240hz 16:9 monitors. "I am not downgrading to 1080p just to get CRT quality" implied you were connecting aspect ratio/resolution to refresh rate.

What kind of 4:3 media exists at 1600x1200, anyway? In emulators, we can modify internal resolution as well as filter textures so it's kind of a moot point. It's not like playing DS games on a 3DS, where upscaling causes blurriness because the multiplier isn't a direct multiplication.

Yes, it's an LED LCD and don't diss my TV, thanks. Seriously, I have no idea why you'd say it must have "bad motion blur and input lag" just because it's an LED LCD. I hook it up to my PC and Wii and control it from my bed.

"not to mention very low pixel density"

Wut. 1080p for a 40" TV is "very low" pixel density? I mean, if it was 720p at 40", sure, but 1080p? Really?

As a rule of thumb, update your widescreen patches about once a month. And a changelog is actually time consuming, especially when people dump like 10 patches at a time, and I have to document every single one of them. I don't use version numbers anymore.

Uh...photos? I guess. Emulators are a per basis problem
The updated Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix widescreen patch causes a weird visual effect on cutscenes.

Patch Disabled: http://i.imgur.com/43wRB2y.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/cChDPn9.jpg
Patch Enabled: http://i.imgur.com/tpFxdvp.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/0XkbVZ2.jpg

In addition to the above problematic screenshots, the black bars turn different colours in other cutscenes too (pretty sure it only happens in the CG cutscenes but any with black bars this probably happens too, as far as I can tell, in game cutscenes aren't affected). The old widescreen patch didn't do this to the cutscenes (why was it updated anyway?) anything to the cutscenes. Can someone fix this please? If not, can someone upload the old patch? Thanks.

I don't care what it is. Once A widescreen patch has been made its simple to make it some other ratio.

[edit] I just need any widescreen patch to Samurai Warriors. A 16:10 would be nice, and a 16:9 is the next best thing (as I'm use to working with those now). I suppose any other one would work too, but I don't know why (short of trolling) someoene would post something other than 16:9 or 16:10.
Requesting 2 games (both NTSC-U):

- Odin Sphere
- Grim Grimoire
Even then, I still don't get the point.
1440x1080 is the 4:3 counterpart to 1920x1080 (16:9), in the same way 1600x1200 is the 4:3 counterpart to 1920x1200 (16:10). It's possible to have perfect 4:3 in 16:9. 1600x1200 isn't that important.

Anyway, I'll add the requests, and take a look at what's causing the KH2 FMV glitch.

This exactly.

If you honestly have some kind of superiority complex with 16:10 vs 16:9 and actually think 4:3 doesn't work on a 16:9 set. You need to slap yo self!Ninja
