Hi, first of all, thx for all the ws patches posted in this thread.
I tried to make a widesreen patch for Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (NTSC - SLUS_203.62) with no luck for several hours. Someone will have this patch or can do it?
Thx in advance!

I found tekken5(SCKA-20049) zoom patterns and TekkenTagTournament(SCPS-56002) zoom and y-res(?) patterns.
thanks to ElHecht for information that tekken5's general zoom address is in dynamic address(30000000-3fffffff).

If you want to try finding the address to increase the horizontal rendering area to get rid of the popup, here is a tip:
Use the addresses in my patch to increase the horizontal fov and choose a camera perspective in the game, so that some objects are outside the 4:3 frame and therefore not drawn (although they should be), then create a savestate. Use this savestate for the further search.
That way I was able to "fix" quite a few games, unfortunately not this one. Keep in mind that the value might be located in the 3xxx range as well, or that it resets itself constantly which would made it pretty hard to find.
I also took a quick look at how the built-in widescreen mode in NFS Underground 2 (same/similar game engine) works but didn't find something useful yet. Won't have time in the next days... good luck!
Holy shnikeys you can get rid of side popups? I might have to revisit Xenosaga 2/3!
Do you think it's possible to somehow get rid of texture popup too? SOTC is probably the worst offender
If by "side popups" you mean something like this (second image, outside the 4:3 frame)
or similar (only some objects, for example people or cars, are invisible outside the 4:3 frame and not parts of the whole map geometry as in this example), then yes, generally this can be fixed. It's just a matter of finding the correct addresses, as always...
Luckily many games make it easy for us, since we only need to patch one single address and the engine adjusts everything else automatically. I even found some games, that have an adress that affects both horizontal fov and rendering area AND an adress that only affects horizontal fov (ratchet series). Of course I went with the first address for my patches
anyone got onimusha 3 / Okami ( ntsc-us ) ??
This is pretty cool. The value nemesis found for HG also works for DMC1.
Code:
inital (4:3)
00000000 00000000 43AD1346 00000000
changed to (16:9)
403F013C 00008144 43AD1346 02C60046
All credit goes to nemesis, I was just bored and screwing around
I also tried to use the MGS2 value for ZOE1 but even after replacing all 70 instances it wasn't in widescreen

Big luck, because this hex code it's a hack for the HG's zoom function
