Posted this somewhere else by mistake, can't seem to delete the thread though.
First off, a screenshot sent to me by a friend that just started playing.

Their specs are almost identical to mine and our settings and build are exactly the same. Apparently it mostly occurs in 'outdoor' areas. I can't replicate it on my own rig no matter what I try. According to my friend, using software mode does NOT fix it.
Next up...

This isn't a huge problem, since this 'effect' is only used in 3 cutscenes in the entire game. But it's there, and so I figured I'd include it here. It can be fixed by using software mode.

And then there's this, these blurry splotches appear in certain cutscenes. It looks a lot worse in motion. I believe this has only been happening for the last thousand or so revisions, but I'm having trouble tracking down the exact build where this started happening.

It can be fixed by enabling the alpha hack, but I'm not sure if that breaks anything else. Not a big deal, I guess. It also makes the game look a bit sharper.
EDIT: never mind. Looks like alpha hack just causes it to show up elsewhere instead. Looks even worse. Really need to track down an old build and see where things went wrong.
EDIT 2: Actually, seems to be linked to using a custom resolution. My bad.

Something else that I unfortunately don't have a screenshot of - on certain hardware (another computer I have and someone else that posted about this on another board) character faces won't render during cutscenes. Kind of creepy looking. Also, certain effects were missing (the 'bam' when you guard break/interrupt attacks/etc). Can be fixed with software mode, iirc.
Here's a comparison shot showing a depth of field effect that doesn't look quite right in hardware. In software it correctly blurs distant scenery, but hardware mode applies a slight blur to almost everything at high resolutions, and isn't used at all at native res. The higher the internal res, the less blurry things become. Using the alpha hack also seems to make things a little clearer in certain circumstances.

There's also the flashing geometry weirdness in hardware mode. But that's probably a well known bug. Software mode fixes it. Hard to take a screenshot of it.
Hopefully putting all this stuff in one post helps at some point. That first issue I mentioned is really bugging my friend and I feel bad about not being able to help them out.
